Simulations of neutron star binaries



Long term evolution of neutron star binary solving the full Einstein equations coupled to the general relativistic hydrodynamic (GRHydro) equations.

The neutron stars are described by a gamma=2 polytropic equation of state. The evolution begins at a late stage in their long inspiral to coalescence driven by gravitational radiation (initially they are in a quasi equilibrium orbit with a relative separation of ra=0.25, proper separation of 61.3km).
